In celebration of the dedication of the John Henrik Clarke Study Lounge at the Hunter College Libraries, April 20, 2023.

John Henrik Clarke

Dr. John Henrik Clarke started as a lecturer at Hunter College in 1969, and was a former chairman of the Black and Puerto Rican Studies Department, now called the Africana, Puerto Rican and Latino Studies Department (AFPRL), at Hunter.

In honor of the dedication of the John Henrik Clarke Study Lounge on the 6th floor of the Leon & Toby Cooperman Library, we created this guide to information about Clarke and his legacy.

We have included a list of publications by, about, or edited by him, as well as links to more information from the John Henrik Clarke Africana Library at Cornell University.
