Finding scholarly articles: Databases
The following databases will help you locate journal articles on specific topics within Physical Therapy and allied health fields.
- Medline Complete This link opens in a new windowComprehensive journal index from the National Library of Medicine to more than 4,600 biomedical journals.
- PEDro Physiotherapy Evidence DatabasePEDro is a free database of over 27,000 randomized trials, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines in physiotherapy. PEDro provides citation details, abstracts and a link to the full text, where available. All trials on PEDro are independently assessed for quality. These ratings identify trials that are more likely to be valid and that contain sufficient statistical information to guide clinical practice.

- CINAHL Complete This link opens in a new windowA nursing-specific database indexing articles from almost 3,000 journals in nursing and allied health fields.
- Gale OneFile: Health and MedicineProvides access to nursing and allied health articles from academic journals, as well as trade magazines, books, news and multimedia sources.
- LWW Nursing & Health Prof. PremierSearch within the nursing and allied health journals from publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
Full Text and “Find it at CUNY”
Most databases allow you to limit your search results to "Full Text," meaning results that will be in the database. If you choose not to do this, you will still be able to get to your non-full text results, but there may be an extra step or two.

If there is a full text link available, click it and you should be all set. If not, you can still retrieve your article via Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
