Research Handbooks

These can be a good starting point, a place to get an overview of a topic and to hone your ideas.  A research handbook is a reference book with chapters by various authors that summarize the research on a particular issue.  They can point you to the leading articles as of the time of publication, and you can then use ERIC or Google Scholar to bring your research down to the present.
