EDESL 753: Article Reference Lists

Tracking Down a Reference

If you find a relevant article, its reference list can be a great source of more research. In academic writing, every assertion of fact must be backed up by a reference to the published research, so if you find an interesting discussion in your article, it will often refer to other articles you want to see.

To go from citation to full text, you can use the Journals tab on the library homepage. Enter the journal name, and see if there's a link to the year that you need. From there, it's pretty clear.

Interlibrary Loan

If we don't have the journal you need, you can still obtain articles by making an interlibrary loan request. It all happens online, and you will get access to a pdf of the article, often in three days or less.
