New Student Guide to the Hunter College Libraries

A quick guide to get you familiar with what we have to offer.

First things first...

First things first...

Your Hunter College ID Card is Your OneCard

Your Hunter Student ID Card/OneCard is your all-access pass to library resources including borrowing books, checking out laptop computers, printing, photocopying and more. It can also be used for a lot of campus-wide resources, so hang on to it and bring it with you everywhere!

You can also find your Library Barcode on the back of your ID. When asked for a Library Barcode and password, enter the number in both the Barcode and Password fields. Your Barcode is your Password unless you change it.

Your Hunter NetID and Password

Learn your Hunter NetID and password and don't forget them! Although if you do you can always go here to look it up. Your NetID and password will allow you access to our WiFi, electronic resources, or databases, from anywhere you have an internet connection. That includes your home, the nearest Starbucks, the airport...

Learn Your Logins

You need several other logins/passwords to function as a student at Hunter. Here they are:

CUNYfirst username/password – used to access everything in CUNYfirst. This will also be used for your @myhunter email.

MyHunter email address/password – use your CUNYfirst username followed by @myhunter.cuny.edu and your CUNYfirst password to access your email.

CUNY Portal ID/password – used for CUNY-wide services like Blackboard, DIG, and CUNY eMall
